SE115 - Model of Dock or Boat Davit System

Mechanical wood and brass builder´s model of a dock or boat davit system. The mechanical davits are made of brass and have many hinged points and pulleys.

The davit system holds the boat from two points in an out of the water position. The arms pivot forward and lock into a position such that the boat can be lower through a drum and crank pulley system.

The model sits on a mahogany box with open front and is double ended and has seven thwarts and two brass hooks and braces for connecting to the davit system. American or English. Circa 1880.
