SE112 - Astronomical Regulator
Astronomical Regulator signed "Molyneux, London". The clock has an exceptionally fine and early eight day movement. It has end stops to the train, jewelled center, and jewelled pallets to the dead beat escapement. The movement has Harrison´s maintaining power. The movement is cased in a dust free environment with brass plates held on with beautiful turned brass threaded knobs. The clock has a twelve inch silver dial with engraved minutes around the circumference. Above the center of the face is a subsidiary second dial and below is a subsidiary hour dial engraved to 24 hours. The clock retains its original blued steel hands and original steel and brass mercury jar compensated pendulum with fine adjustment and its original brass weight and pulley as original flame grain mahogany case. There is a locking brass bezel in the removable bonnet and a locking glazed door in the waist of the case. Both the edges of the bonnet and waist are chamfered. Given the 24 hour markings on the dial, it is likely that this clock was made for an observatory, although the quality of the wood is exceptional for a scientific clock.
