Janice Hyland and Alan Granby founded Hyland Granby Antiques in 1976. Five years later (1981), both Janice and Alan completed their doctorate degrees at Boston University where they studied the effects of visualization on learning.
Both Janice and Alan have a deep interest in maritime history and the focus of the Hyland Granby antiques business has been buying and selling important 18th and 19th century maritime artifacts.
Hyland Granby Antiques maintains a large inventory of museum quality ship models, ship paintings, scrimshaw, marine carvings and navigational instruments.
Through the years, Hyland Granby Antiques has sold mainly to marine museums and advanced collectors. Hyland Granby Antiques sells by appointment and exhibits at a few shows including the New York Winter Antiques Show.
Alan Granby has been a member of the New York Yacht Club for several years and is presently serving on the Fine Arts Committee.
Alan is also on the board of the International Yacht Restoration School which owns Shamrock and Coronet. The purpose of the organization is to restore and maintain classic yachts.
Janice´s doctorate degree is in Library Science and she is active in the firm´s research of acquisitions.
