Cristina Da Silva is a 20 year resident of Ossining. She graduated from Ossining High School
and went on to earn Bachelor degree from Pace University, and went on to graduate from Pace
University School of Law. In school, she served as the Student Bar Association Representative
and was a member of the Latin American Law Studies Association.
Cristina wants "people to become active members of their communities and I want
to break the stereotypes that you cant be young and involved in local politics"
She is active in the Portuguese community and feels strongly about getting younger people
involved in government. She has organized several meetings at the Ossining Portuguese Center
to register individuals who have not yet registered to vote, and plans to expand her efforts
register voters and promote cultural activities to include all of the diverse ethnic groups
in Ossining.
She is a licensed realtor and is currently working in her family business in Ossining, Irene
G. Da Silva Real Estate. She is a member of the Westchester County Board of Realtors.
Four years ago, Cristina ran for Village Trustee and so impressed her opponents, that they
have asked her to run with them this year. She will add her efforts to the recent improvements
in the village:
"I want to see the downtown flourish - it has come a long way, but I want to bring
more businesses into the downtown. I would like to promote our downtown and riverfront as a
destination for residents of other villages!"
Cristina has been involved in non-profit organizations and countless hours of pro bono work:
 |
Jack Pereira Foundation |
 |
Florida Immigrant Advocacy Center |
 |
Legal Aid Society |
 |
John Jay Legal Services |
Cristina's legal experience provide valuable insights on the Board. She has worked actively
to provide for the needs of others, who could not otherwise find representation. Her real estate
experience provides an expert knowledge of zoning laws and issues. Her fresh perspective and innovative thinking will be a welcome asset to the Village Board.
